Ubidyne Awarded Prestigious Grant from German Federal Ministry of Education and Research
ULM, GERMANY, July 2, 2009 - Ubidyne, the leader in digital radio technology for the wireless industry, announced today that it has received a grant approval from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) amounting to 514,170 € for research in new approaches in the clocking system of its Antenna Embedded Radio™ technology for wireless basestations.
This grant (Notification No 13N10022) was awarded through the KMU Innovation Program: Information and Communication Systems (IKT). The KMU initiative enables small and medium size businesses in Germany to invest in advanced research topics, fostering the commercialization of innovative ideas and thus strengthening the leadership of technical companies in Germany. The KMU Innovation Program is part of the High-Tech Strategy of the German Federal Government.
The Ubidyne project began in May 2009 and will be funded to support the research and design of an advanced clocking system which will be integrated in the company’s next generation Antenna Embedded Radio™ products. Ubidyne’s first generation product, the uB900, dramatically reduces energy consumption, enables simple, flexible deployment, and increases the coverage and capacity of mobile communications networks at lower cost points than ever before possible. The clock generation system is a central component of Ubidyne’s next generation technology and a key enabler for providing a competitive product both in terms of cost and performance while providing a significant reduction in power consumption.
"We are highly honored by the award. This grant underscores Ubidyne’s position as a technology leader in Germany,” commented Ken Hawk, CEO of Ubidyne. “The funds will allow us to expand our research activities in advanced circuits and continue our mission to dramatically change economics and energy consumption of wireless communications."
