Michael Fränkle

Michael Fränkle, CEO

Michael Fränkle joins Ubidyne from Telefónica O2 in Germany where he has served as Vice President with responsibility for Access and Transport Technology Planning and Engineering for both the mobile and fixed networks. Over the last 12 years at Telefónica O2, Mr. Fränkle held various positions in technology management in radio access planning for GSM and UMTS networks as well as in core and service development. Previous to his most recent role, Michael Fränkle served as Chief Technology Officer of the fixed broadband business at Telefónica in Germany and was responsible for merging this with the mobile organization. He started his career at Siemens AG in the public communications unit (now Nokia Siemens Networks) where he was involved in international network planning projects. Mr. Fränkle has been a Ubidyne board member since November of 2009.

 

Thomas Schaffer

Thomas Schaffer, CFO

Thomas’ brings more than 25 years of international expertise in financial management in the technology sector as well as in Venture Capital. He has held VP/CFO and Managing Director positions in Siemens Semiconductor and Infineon, served as a Managing Director for Infineon Ventures and was CFO of Qimonda’s Specialty DRAM division as well as responsible for building Qimonda’s solar cells business. Most recently he served as CFO for Heptagon in Switzerland.

 

Dr. Lothar Schmidt

Dr. Lothar Schmidt, SVP Engineering

Lothar has extensive experience in integrated circuit definition and design specifically for applications in the Gb/s and GHz range. Prior to joining Ubidyne, Lothar was a Design Manager at Texas Instruments in Hannover, Germany and later a Senior Systems Engineer at Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX, responsible for systems and product definition for the physical media devices product line. Lothar was the Design Director at the Maxim Design Center Hannover, where he managed the development of integrated circuits for fiber optics applications and was co-founder of HiSys GmbH, a company offering design services for high-speed integrated system solutions. Lothar managed and grew HiSys GmbH until it was successfully sold to Maxim in 1999. Lothar earned a Dipl.-Ing. and a Dr.-Ing. degree from the Ruhr-University Bochum and has published 11 technical papers and holds 7 patents.

 

Frank Oehler

Frank Oehler, VP Sales & Marketing

Frank joins Ubidyne from Nokia Siemens Networks, where he gained more than 12 years of experience in Sales, Strategy and Business Development. Frank joined Nokia in 1999 and has held several international assignments. He supported and led several customer sales teams in Europe as well as the Middle East and Africa. He was instrumental in setting up an indirect sales channel for the Middle East and Africa and he managed teams in the region focused on acquiring new key customers. With the launch of Nokia Siemens Networks in 2007, Frank moved to the corporate strategy team in Finland and led emerging market strategies. In 2009 Frank carried on his sales career in the European sales unit where he was the head of sales teams for Packet Core and IP partner products.

 

Dr. Peter Kenington

Dr. Peter Kenington, CTO

Renowned lecturer at the University of Bristol, he co-founded Wireless Systems International, the pioneer of digital predistortion in wireless base-stations. He was the CTO of Wireless Systems until its acquisition by Andrew Corporation in 2002. He spent 4 years at Andrew as the Director of Advanced Technology within the Base Station Subsystems group, before leaving to found his own radio systems consultancy: Linear Communications. He holds the position of Technical Chair within the ‘Open Base Station Architecture Initiative’ (OBSAI). He is a Fellow of the IET, a Chartered Engineer and the author of over 50 patents, 100 technical papers and two books in the RF electronics field.
